You promised me your kingdom, A place I cannot hide. A place that I have searched for, So near, so far, so wide.
But how will I know And how will it be? When the kingdom you promised is given to me?
Will it be a golden palace by a lake of peaceful blue? Will it be a place where I can talk to you and only you?
Will it be surrounded by Mountains lush and vibrant green? Will they meet a sky so clear That the God I love is clearly seen?
Will the hurt I have within my life be extinguished like a flame? Will you embrace me lord and call me to your side by name?
Will I never want or need again? Will my heart be never more so broken? Will each new day that greets me be more than just a token?
Please my lord when will I know your kingdom? Of all commandments that you gave you know I can recite and even sing them! ------------------------- My son my child, so far to go The kingdom you seek at the end of your nose.
You have it all, you always have The lake the mountains and me your holy Dad.
The kingdom is not what I will give to you The kingdom is what you wake up each morn to.
When you know that you are in this world but not behave as if your of it. When you welcome trials and sing of them as a lover would a sonnet.
When you gaze upon the sights in awe, you now turn from in disgust. And realise that beauty comes in ugliness you cuss. When you ask what can I do you for you my Lord and not demand in prayer to me a must!
When all these traits you turn around to see new colours in the sky, You will know my son that what I promised was with you all along and see it with my eyes. The kingdom is not what I will give to you But what you rise each and every day to see
When the peace you feel within your heart is there til day you die You will see the kingdom promised turn into my confession. So that every breath you take you will treat as your most valuable possession. And as far as will you see me? You will never need to ask As I'll be there beside you as I have been always in your past! Wherever you may cast your eyes, your feet, your hands you will see That I am here for you my son as you are here for me.
