It has been a wonderful, awe inspiring weekend of sport which got me pondering.
The human race is able to achieve (and destroy) so much but lets concentrate on our ability to achieve and ask why?
How does an Olympian get to the stage of his or her discipline that they become a champion, a success, an inspiration to thousands?
It is simple, they start with a gift ( talent) and initially through love and nurture discover they can achieve. Through achievement comes recognition and through recognition comes more nurture and the submission of trust that their coach (or sometimes God) can bring out the best in them, and so an athlete is born!
So break the ingredients down to the bare bones and you could apply the same formula to anything in our lives. It is all born from a gift and love, one does not flourish without the other!
Everyone has a gift, everyone! You may not have discovered it yet but it is there. Just take a moment to think of yours.
When I was in school I was told that acting was my gift and longed to pursue it further but my father believed it was no career for a MAN and prevented me from doing so. I often wonder what would happen if things had been different?
I guess the reason I am writing this rambling is to say we all have a duty to make our world a better place and if you give just a little encouragement and a lot of love who knows who we could be standing next to in years to come. It doesn't need to be a family member, it could be a friend. They may never become an Olympian, or peacemaker or even actor but the inner belief and strength you nurture in that person I would wager, will help to make this world a better place.
God bless!
