"She's the one. We had studied her closely. But she needs to watch where she's going because we have to keep saving her a couple of times." "I knew she is. We have to wait in the right time to capture her."
"Kayla, you will never believe what happened today!" I yelled as I reach home. I ran to Kayla's room, expect her to be in her room, but she's not there! I went downstairs and asked Mama Barbara, "Where's Kayla?" Mama Barbara is the woman who took care of us orphans, and took us here to this foster house. It's weird how she doesn't have us homeschool, but they probably couldn't afford a teacher who can teach all 63 kids at once. "Kayla is having an interview with a couple. Hopefully, Kayla will want you to come along with her. You can go to the interviewing room if you want"
I had never been in the interviewing room before, and it looks fancy. There were shelves that had 3-ringed binders that contains a child's name. At the center was a rectangular table, with Kayla's binder. The floor was a velvet color. The curtain on the window is black and looks like it's made of leather. This is practically the most neatest and beautiful room I have seen so far.
Everyone was looking at me and I said, "What happened Kayla?" Even though I already know the answer. "These people are asking if they wanted to take them with me. I was just about to make my decision." Kayla said. The woman asked,"So what do you think? Do you want to live with us, or stay in this uh-place." I think when she means place, she actually said "junkyard." I waited for Kayla to say yes, but instead she said,"Unless Chelsea comes along, I will accept going." I just couldn't believe what Kayla wanted to go with me!
The couple both looked at each other and the guy said,"But we can live better with three of us." Excuse me, but I matter too, you know. "What if you don't have time for me? I can really talk to someone, and I don't want to be acquainted with someone in the neighborhood because it might be a little awkward."
" Then we'll hire a babysitter."
"I'm ten, and what if the babysitter has to take care of me because he or she needs to take care of someone else?"
"Then we'll call your new uncle or aunt."
"You can either take me and my sister, or you can take someone else." They both didn't have a choice and answered,"Okay, she can come with us." And me and Kayla squealed with delight. "But we need to interview her too, you know." Kayla knows what they mean, and left the room.
Phew, and I thought that interview will never end! We packed up at 8:00 because we needed to say bye to everyone and get treasures as a reminder of them. After what seems like forever for the drive to our new house,(even though it's close to our school) Bradley unpacked our suitcase and showed us the mansion they lived in. He even showed us a small private room to let us talk about secrets and stuff. It is also soundproof! Across the private room was a bedroom for us. It was supposed to be the guest's bedroom, but I came along. At least it has a bunkbed and a couple of drawers for us.
At dinner time, Jessica(the woman) asked us,"How do you like the place so far?" At the same time, me and Kayla answered,"I love it!" Tonight we were having a mini-party, and are eating pizza with pepperoni and jalapeΓ±o as toppings. "Tomorrow we are going to show you around the neighborhood. And you girls are going to the same school. We'll walk you there at Monday and hopefully, you will remember the way." Bradley announced. After dinner and discussing plans for this weekend, I almost forgot about what happened this mourning and called for me and Kayla's first private discussion.
"What happened Chelsea? Did the phantom come again?" Kayla asked. She probably tell he did came because I have a terrified face on right now! "Yes,but he didn't do anything to anyone. Before the school bell rang, I felt cold, sweaty hands on my shoulders! After school ended, I thought someone was choking me in the neck! Finally, when the interview was over, I heard a deep voice-" I just couldn't pull myself together because I almost burst into tears. It said to kill Bradley and Jessica!" And I almost lost it. Fortunately, Kayla is really good at calming me down. She hugged me first, then said,"It's okay. As long as you don't listen to those awful voices, you'll be fine. And at the first day the phantom came, he saved your life. You shouldn't hate him and thank him for saving you, or you wouldn't be here right now." Kayla always know what to say. She should be a psychologist someday.
