Have you ever wondered how the world would be like if key historical events didn't take place or something else happened instead? No I don't mean if you weren't born or if you had got that job... I mean on a global scale.
It's quite an imaginative subject and I know a lot of people don't like this sort of stuff because "it's not real" or "it's stupid the worlds not like that" but for the more curious it can be quite a fascinating world inspiring new ways of thinking.
Now as I'm British I'll be a little more biased towards British history but I think it's the point that counts... Now then, did you know that during the suez canal crisis there was rumblings of a permanent union between the UK and France... Now let me explain I can't tell you everything (and feel free to correct me) but the story goes like this; the Egyptians had taken over the canal and wouldn't let France and Britain to have control over it, both France and Britain needing the canal as a route to colonies(and it also being a very important trade route) needed it back in their control (excuse this next bit) blah blah blah... Britain and France joint operation....blah blah blah... France in bad economical way... Blah blah blah... Basically the French prime minister suggested the idea to the British prime minister, that France join the union or become part of the commonwealth with the Queen as head of state. Long story short and for obvious reasons we know this did not occur, because the idea shocked the French cabinet who were not aware of this, even though documentations had already been drawn up on both side of the channel, and instead of the British cabinet being ecstatic they said they rather see the French die (although not quite in the sane words)...
My question is what if this actually happened? The United Kingdom of Great Britain, northern Ireland and France??? So strange isn't it, tell me what you think of this topic?
