A knock at the door stirs her from her slumber, and a rather pleasant dream also. Feeling disorientated and groggy she makes her way down the mahogany stairs, well the renter of the house insists that they are. Reaching the foot of the stairs the knocking became more urgent as if some one was attempting a break in but the red and blue lights flashing through the front room window and ricocheting off the cream walls said it all, she opened the door but kept the chain on and in a unusually deep voice murmured "Do you realise what the time is?" The abnormally perky deputy sprang to life like a jack in the box that she had just opened. "It's 4:30 am Ma'am" the deputy replied. "Don't call me Ma'am I'm not an old lady! And it was a rhetorical question." she spat at him "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I'm just going door to door about a missing persons report and wondered if you had seen any thing suspicious?" as he spoke he removed a pad of paper and a pen. She couldn't help but feel remorse for her last reply to the deputy, he seemed to have a certain charm about him that made her feel rather flushed. "Oh" she replied trying to sound innocent "I haven't seen anything, it's rather worrying that someone could just disappear like that! I'm a bit worried for my own safety now" she smiled at the fact she nailed the damsel in distress act. "Don't you worry miss we're on the case, sorry to have bothered you! Good night" he said with a smile "Good night" she replied about to close the door when she heard a voice crackle over the Police scanner. "The sheriffs body has been found I repeat the sheriffs body has been found. A gun shot wound to the head instant death, no shell casings in a 20ft radius Csi suggest a low calibre sniper rifle or an tactical MP5." How wrong are they she thought to her self, she was close enough to see the life leave his eyes. Another voice came over the scanner "Another Red Rose, it's her, it's Red." Red she thought, I like that name.
