This is beautiful & really choked me. My Nan has been my stalwart throughout a rocky childhood & difficult times as an adult-she really is my rock. I know the day will come when l have to say goodbye, but I'm dreading if...she's been the one constant-my pole star😌
@Fly10 you sound as though you had wonderful grandparents like me, my parents were not great...quite dysfunctional upbringing...but my nan and gramp were the only stability I had in my life...I wrote a poem for my gramp who passed away about 8 years ago...broke my heart...my dear nan is everything to me....we talk about her dying as she has left me in charge of all her affairs and we talk openly and frankly about her passing....she says there is a letter that I will have in the will....not looking forward to that letter....got me thinking though, that maybe I should write her a letter now, telling her my memories and just what she means to me...we also have a pact that whoever goes first has to let the other one know when they have got the other side....lol....cherish your nan as I do mine :):):)
@misslittleDHP That's EXACTLY the same as my story, re parents etc. My Nan & I spend hours together & the memories she shares from her own life events are wonderful. She had a tragic time being bombed out in the war, her father & brother killed, poverty stricken as a result, both other brothers committed suicide & so on.. She has an inner strength that astounds me, & she's a constant inspiration. We've had the 'when I'm gone chat' too, so I'm fully aware of what she does/doesn't want. I'm just so lucky to have had her in my life at all, never mind for this long. And don't worry-she's treasured. Thanks for sharing your story 😌😘
