One day I'm walking along A baby bird I did see She'd been kicked out her nest For being weak and sickly
I went to walk on by Leave nature to take its course Then I heard a cheep from baby bird It was a sound I couldn't ignore
My need to try to save her kicked in Picking her up, I placed her in my bag The car journey took forever Time was annoying by being a drag
I took her into my home Placing her into a box I filled it with branches Twigs, leaves and moss
I fed her day and night Watching her grow stronger From her box she watched me For her my heart grew fonder
She'd cheep away to me I'd cheep cheep back Cheeping away to each other We did our birdy chat
As soon as she saw That I was in the room Across the kitchen she'd fly Really quickly....ZOOM
Soon I realised it was time To let baby bird go She had to be set free Let my baby bird grow
I placed her box outside So she could feel the air She just sat there looking Like she didn't care
Then she saw a bird Fly above her in the sky She took one look at me As if to say goodbye
My heart was light As she flew up into the sky I often think of my baby bird When I see a bird fly by
