The hurt she carries suffocates her so
Life for her is one that she can't let go
Her unhappiness is hidden from all eyes
Look deep enough, you will hear the cries
From her life with him she cannot walk
To fearful of his cruelty to try to talk
The thoughts she has are locked away
Saved for a time when she has a brave day
His abuse is using words of sheer spite
It's dragged her down, she's a pitiful sight
She blames herself for her failure with men
If only she'd get it, it's not her it's them
She is scared, fearful of what may come
Tries to pretend her life's not so glum
Into an empty bottle of wine she cried
Revealed how she had been feeling deep inside
The bruises are invisible to the eye
Keeping her secret a secret, and the lies a lie
No one knows that she needs them now
For the bruises cannot be seen somehow
Only she knows that they are there upon her
Every remark, look, snide comment and slur
Only she can reach out, for a helping hand
To be released from the words of an abusive man
