I suppose my fascination with the night sky and the possibility of alien life forms began when I was 4 years old. That was when I was introduced to The Sky At Night with Patrick Moore. From that moment on I would sit for hours watching the night sky.

I was the little girl who believed ET was real and I used to leave a trail of M&M's most nights. I used to make transmitters out of old electrical appliances and a wire coat hanger.

As I got older I had a telescope, read what I could about alien encounters and UFO sightings. My hobby was UFO spotting, which I sometimes dragged my brother and best friend into.

I was seeking the truth but I knew I was up against all the worldwide conspiracies, the worldwide cover ups, all the religions in the world and the fruit loops that make up stories, discrediting those that are real.

I had seen a couple of strange things in the sky but unless I had absolute proof I often took my sightings with a pinch of salt.

That all changed when I was 13 years old.

Me and some friends went trick or treating, it was a cold, crisp night and as usual I would look in wonder at the beautiful starry night.

After being asked to do a trick at one house, we sang a quick song and left, but then went back and knocked on the door but ran off, it was part of the trick you see. Everyone ran in different directions and I was left with my friend Richard. We began to walk in silence and that is when I felt it. A voice telling me to look up into the sky. I did, and that is when I saw it. It was very far away and faint in the night sky against the backdrop of the starry night, but I just KNEW where to look.

There were 8 lights in a row, flashing in sequence, one after the other and intermittently, the lights were white, yellow, orange and red.

I stood rooted to the spot, my friend Richard asked me what I was looking at and although it took him a while, he eventually saw it too.

"What is it?" he asked nervously

"I don't know" I replied never take my eyes off what was before me in the sky.

Richard stood for a few more moments.

"That's it I'm going home, this is freaky" and with that I was alone.

I continued to watch and my neck began to ache so I looked to the ground, when I looked back it was gone.

The voice told me to look again and sure enough right on the other side of the sky, there it was. Literally it could get from one side of the sky to the other in a second. It began to almost play with me, one second it was in front of me and then behind, then it would be on my left side and suddenly be on my right side.

It always stayed the same distance away from me, never once getting any closer.

I never felt afraid, I felt calm, like I had been chosen.

I decided to make my way home. It stayed in contact with me the whole time, playing hide and seek amongst the stars.

When I got outside my house I began to speak to it.

"Who and what are you?....why are you following me?"

It continued to just hover in the sky.

I decided to go and get my nan so she could see this for herself.

I ran inside " nan...nan...you have to come and see this outside...QUICK!"

Nan and me rushed outside and sure enough it was still hovering in exactly the same place.

Nan stood for a few moments and then I felt her grab me by the arm roughly.

"Quick get inside, that thing is scaring me, get inside NOW!"

Nan dragged me into the house, nan was visibly shaken and was telling my gramp about the thing in the sky, gramp just muttered under his breath and over his newspaper that it probably was just a satellite. I sat there and couldn't quite believe my nans hysteria, I tiptoed to the front door as I still felt that the thing in the sky was there.

I crept out the front door and I stand on my path and to my amazement it is indeed still there...just silently waiting.

"Who are you?.....what do you want from me?"

I don't know what answer I was expecting to get but a few moments passed between us and somehow I just knew that we were connected.

In that moment of passing I saw the lights zoom off, within a blink of an eye it had disappeared into the night sky, leaving a white trail behind it.

From that night I felt different. Something out of this world had happened, something so amazing and too big to comprehend had happened.

Would and could it ever happen again?
