I saw him standing there A room full of people Yet time stood still Just me and him
I felt a crimson rush Against the backdrop of blue In the lavish ball room Of delicious decadence
His eyes never left mine I was intrigued by this man Mesmerised by his charm Awkwardly shy
The inner pull of him Gave me a confused hunger An unknown delicacy A taste of desire
He took my hand I felt vulnerable yet safe Looking into my eyes He gave a smile
Together we danced The Cakewalk and Waltz Foxtrot and Gavotte With grace and modesty
The evening passed by In a surreal haze I never wanted it to end Crestfallen I let go
I whisper to you "Shall I see you again?" To which you reply "Forever and in your dreams"
The light headiness Followed me to my room Closing the door I smile Reliving our dancing
With closed eyes I'm swaying with a memory In your hold In your smile
Opening my eyes Upon my pillow Is my dance card With his words inside
'Forever and in your dreams' With joy in my heart I finger trace the words And touch my lips
That's when I notice A flower so elegant Demure and sleek A lone black tulip
