27 July 2012
She stood before the mirror
Drinking in her reflection
She'd waited so long for this day
Her dress was satin perfection
The veil kissed her pretty face
Hung beautifully down to her waist
The tiny crystals glistened
Upon the bride, traditionally late
The excitement within her
Was plain for all to see
She was the blushing bride
Who could not wait to marry
When she reached the church
A worried face they met
It was the best man
His words were full of regret
Her groom was not there
Said he needed time alone
That was over an hour ago
He can't be reached by phone
She could not utter a word
Too tied up to even speak
Then she heard the words
That left her feeling weak
One of her bridesmaids had gone
She left about the same time
A note had been left by her
'Sorry, hope you can forgive but he's mine'
It had all become clear
Her wedding day was no more
It hadn't even begun
She looked down at the floor
She picked up her bouquet
Then walked a little way
Her mind had gone numb
The darkness took her day
In a daze she walked
To desperation and hell
No words could help her now
Into the depths of turmoil she fell
Her veil still covered her face
It beautifully swayed in the wind
She walked into the oncoming truck
Her shattered body had sinned
Now when others marry
Sometimes the bride is seen
Still wearing her satin dress
The veil, hides the face that screams
