At nineteen she did the test Stared hard at what she saw Two tiny bloody lines Her mouth fell to the floor
What would she ever do? Not a soul to tell To comfort her at this time Her very own private hell
A mother she cannot be Children she does not need She has dreams and plans She needs to act with speed
The shame within her Prevented her doing what's right She buried her head in sand Her trousers became too tight
One night she woke up The pain was so very intense She want to scream and shout The silent torment felt immense
For hours she writhed around Praying it would be over soon She felt like a she wolf Wanting to howl to the moon
With the biggest push Her baby entered her world She wrapped the baby up To her emotions she was hurled
She looked at the babe Hoping that she would feel A rush of love for little one But this was a broken seal
Nothing she could feel She knew what must be done Grabbing what ever she could Out the door she did run
Carrying the baby in her arms Looking where she could go This must be a bad dream The tears begin to flow
Reaching the darkened steps She places the babe onto the floor Turns her back and walks away From the hospitals back door
The babe was found crying Hungry, cold but safe Wrapped in an old jumper Was the little ones face
At twenty she had a baby Whom she left upon the floor A baby boy she will never know At the hospitals back door
