She holds the mic in her hand
Glances over at her band
As she sings, happiness spreads
Lights dim upon her as she lowers her head
She's been doing this for oh so long
She no longer knows what drives her on
As a child, she'd sit on her swing
Close her eyes and beautifully sing
At 14 she was spotted with luck
A childhood prodigy, the name had stuck
The endless tours,interviews and pics
Living out of suitcase, her bed she missed
So many people are with her always
They're only there for the high wage she pays
This bubble of a world she's enveloped in
Born out of her ability to sing
The guilt pulls her down into a deep despair
As compared to others, her life don't compare
She knows that at times she's truly blessed
So why does her head feel such a mess?
To never be alone but to feel so lonely
To exist in a world that's fake and phoney
It kills her more each and every day
But she doesn't want to push her fans away
So again she puts her famous smile upon her face
Sings to her audience, in her lonely place
She is adored, always on the news
Behind that smile no one sees the blues
Her voice is her gift and it's for all to share
The person behind the voice, they have no care
The top note, she belts out so very perfectly
The lights on her darken, she finally is free
Her mic is retired for the night but she must go on
To do it all again tomorrow, same smile, same songs
