#bestofopuss...I just love this one
After two tours of duty That is when he met his love
In the middle of a dance floor On a night out with mates in a club
Straight away he felt it He knew in a moment she was the one
She shyly smiled back Their sweet romance together had begun
After some months he knew That he wanted her always in his life
Got down on one knee in a cafe "My darling I love you....please be my wife?"
Excitedly they made plans Knowing how perfect their day would be
The date was finally set After his third tour of duty
Whilst fighting for his country Only the thought of his love kept him sane
He put pen to paper Wrote a letter so he could explain
'My darling it pains me to write this letter But I need you to hear my vow'
'I promise to return to you You will be my wife, I'm telling you now'
'I don't want you to be sad Or fear that I may never come back'
'You are all that I want I love you, you need to know that'
'So keep smiling my beautiful For I will return to you very soon'
'We will be married On the 21st of October at noon'
He never saw it coming Just a blackness following the blast
His life flashed before him His present and all his past
In her hand she holds the letter Tears begin to fall down her pretty face
A tear dropped on her dress All ivory silk and white lace
Then she hears the music She knows that this is now her cue
Her fathers proud face is smiling He is holding her arm now too
The wedding march begins As they slowly walk down the aisle
That's when she sees him Her true love wearing a beautiful smile
Stood side by side With tears in his eyes he takes her hand
Whispers softly to her "I made you a promise, so here I am"
