Web design student: "I did nothing all week." Tutor (me):"You did something actually quite a lot of work, I saw you working." Student:"I was just messing with colours and buttons." Tutor:"So you did something, give yourself some credit." Student:"I did nothing!" Tutor:"Just stand back a bit and look at what you did and verbalise it, then write it down in your report." Student:"I 'll try. . ." I am wondering if I convinced him that his work which he in his mind qualified as nothing actually has any value in his eyes? We will see. How much of our educating as parents or tutors is actually helping human being to convince themselves of their worth... Most of the time it is just that, a labour of love that I love and hopefully engender some of that passion for life and work in my family and students.
Amen
