There once was a cat named Alex, he was a young little guy who always loved to get out of the house and explore his backyard. He enjoyed running around and prancing on the daisies as if they were prey. "This is so much fun!" he would yell; he was having the time of his life! The

Next day he saw another cat in the front yard and decided he ought to greet his visitor. "Hello friend!" he began, "Nice to meet you!" The cat looked at him suspiciously until he decided speak up. "Well hello to you too good fellow." This cat was and old cat who had quite a lot of dull colored fur on him. "My, my, would you happen to seek adventure young chap?"

"Yes! Why yes, of course!" Alex answered,

"Well then, you just got yourself a partner! Excuse my manners, I haven't told you my name have I? My name is Maxwell the III, but you can just call me Maxie, at least, that used to be my nick name when I was your age."

"Say Maxie, what adventures did you have? I can't wait to hear the stories you have to tell!" Yelled Alex.

"Just you wait, Kid! I'll tell you all about it! But do you mind if I stay over at your house for a while? I really have gotten tired of walking for miles on end..."

"Sure Maxie. I'll show you around my home."

Alex was so happy to hear the stories Maxwell had to tell. This would be his first time to actually hear of real adventure, and not his foolish child's play.

And so Maxwell spent days telling his adventures, and one day Alex decided he was ready to handle a real adventure of his own, so he asked Maxwell, "Hey Maxie, do you think we could have a real adventure here? In this little town?"

"Why of course Alex! That's why I've come to this town in the first place!" Maxwell replied

"Really? But in your stories, the places you mention are exotic and much to far away from here..." Alex questioned

"I thought so too Alex, but as it turns out, there's a great treasure that can be found here so that's why I came here as quickly as possible. And I think I could use your help."

"Wow, my help?! But I'm too young aren't I?

"No you're perfect, you're small size will be a huge asset in getting past the door..."

"Door?" Alex asked, confused.

"Did I say door?" Maxwell began to correct himself, "I meant the great gate... Yeah a gate... not a door..."

"Well okay then..." Alex replied, "But when do we set out?"

"Why, tonight of course," Maxwell said, "Tonight is the only time we can go, so let's go!"

"Okay!" Said Alex.

And so the set off!... To the house across the street?

"Maxwell? Why are we at my owner's mother's house?" Alex asked.

"Cause there's treasure of course!" replied Maxwell

"There, see that little tiny blue square at the bottom of the door there? It slides back and for-"

"You mean a doggy door?" Alex cut in.

"Yeah, that's the one! Now go in and open this door for me, but do it quickly, time is wasting." Maxwell ordered.

And so Alex did what he was told and opened the door for him.

"Good, now I can finally get that jewelry she hides in that box..."Whispered Maxwell.

"Jewelry?! I thought we were trying to get treasure!" Alex yelled

"Of course not you little shit, I lied to you to get inside, and now that I'm in, you can't stop me!"

Alex was confused and at the same time enraged. "Why you! Why I oughta-"

SLASH!

Alex could not breath, as if everything began to fade to black. Before he closed his eyes completely, he noticed a crimson red liquid dripping from his neck.

All he could hear was "This is what you get for trusting strangers kid, by the way, you aren't fit for a real adventure, you're just a kid! There is no future for a little bitch like you!" Alex began to lose conscientiousness. Soon he closed his eyes. All he could feel was regret, no other emotion was visible to him, just regret. Why did he leave the house that day?
