I stand upon the edge of knowing, the possibilities are far and wide. As I wait, tentatively in this place, I get to thinking....
What if it's not like I'm hoping? What if this all goes horribly wrong and I end up getting hurt? I begin to pace the room. But there's no turning back now, I'd come this far.
After what felt like an eternity, Mrs Burge re-entered the room with an A4 folder in her hand. She sat on one of the slightly plasticky, marl-green commercial chairs and gave me a gentle smile, whilst motioning for me to take a seat by her.
"Miss Kendall," she began, Then, with that reassuring smile of hers, "Grace..." I could feel the blood rushing to my chest in a tidal-wave rush, "We've now completed all of the necessary checks, and we can be sure we have covered every detail...I have here, the details of your birth mother."
And so began my other life....
