The thin little river
Waits ever so
Beneath the still ice
Fish swim like thoughts
Uncaring of the frozen surface

Thunder rumbles!
The ground shakes!
In a burst of black
The man&machine fade
Menace already past
Shuddering,
The snow capping
The lonely bridge shakes

Whump, and snow fallen
Like patience,
Sinks.

Through the thin ice,
Slowly, slowly,
Then suddenly,
Did you know it was there?

More noise-
Frustratingly,
All falls to pieces
One little thing
Makes everything break
Irreparable, Shattered
No going back,
Never to be the same

But time passes
Mending, mending
A slow, cold creation of
A heavy quilt
To lay upon the wound again

All of this
From nature and
The little ways
She plays out her whims.

The thin little river
And it's cold, snowy bridge
Still stand, for-ever
Just waiting
To be spurred into action,
As the sky greys and dims.

Yo. Me? I'm a professional Metaphor Creator - aka taking two things and sticking them together with determination and lots of glue to make a sandwich. (That's pretty much how I write, too. But hey, sandwiches are great, aren't they? Even if you have to look at the base idea of it.) Also known as a Thinker, Dreamer, Sleeper, and/or TalksTooMucher.
