And the history books Forgot about us And the bible didn't mention us But they built us a statue On a hill Saying we were the greatest We had the will To do what our hearts said Screw the rest Entwined in the story The words eternal...
But the history books Forgot about us And the bible didn't Mention us And they tore down the statue on the hill Saying we were too young We'd never know until We were just as old And cynical as them. They told us we were Too wrapped up to Know of love Silly and foolish But we are the sky, Far above When they tore down Our statue, on the hill Thinking we caused the problems they never will They forgot that we're just As part of them As the part they wanted To rip out and toss
The history books Forgot about us And the bible didn't Mention us Now all we've got Is a sign on a hill And maybe a few Fairytales left in us still But that's okay And it's all alright What matters most is that For a moment We shone like a light.
(Inspired by Regina Spektor's Samson and sang on a whim while vacuuming. I make no claims this is very good ... Whatever it is. Not even sure if it's a song or a poem. Ohwell.)
