21 November 2012

Sunshine broke out from the hills that I could just make out as the chilly, morning mist, that blocked my view. There was no more moon, or stars, but only the chirpy, jolly tunes from the birds, that echoed through the forest.

"Natasha?" Alek's voice interrupted.

I slowly opened my eyelids, to see Alek smiling up at me, already making breakfast. Rosie was still asleep, cuddled up in Alek's raincoat; looking so sweet and tranquil as always.

Soon smell of meat entered my nose.

"That smells good Alek, but how did you manage to get the meat?" I asked him.

"You wouldn't think I could hunt would you?" Akek replied, blowing out the fire.

"Nope!" I said.

"Well, you know now" Alek replied, handing me a piece.

I nibbled on the crispy chunk of meat, and then realised that Rosie was still asleep.

"Rosie... Come on, it's time to get up! Breakfast is ready!" I whispered happily into her ear.

Rosie turned to the her left side and grumpily replied: "I'm still sleepy"

"Well then, who's ready for a tickle?" I whispered back cheekily. Carefully moving my hand underneath the raincoat, I began rubbing her stomach. A familiar giggle that I so missed escaped from Rosie's mouth.

"Stop it! Please! Nat!" The little one exclaimed which giggles in between.

"Only until you promise to get up, you cheeky monkey!" I said, now tickling her neck.

"I promise! I promi-

I let go of Rosie's stomach. Then Rosie sighed, and propped herself up on the wet grass.

"Here you go" Alek said, handing her the last chunk.

And as soon as Rosie finished, we all headed into the deep, and easily deathly, forest. Rosie once again on Alek's shoulders, was singing a little tune, and me and Alek began planning.

"So, where shall we start?" I asked Alek, "You saved me last time, you can do it again" I continued, looking into those leaf green eyes.

"I remember leaving from my hut, and then passing that cave, a long muddy trail, a hill, and... I think..." Alek replied, scratching his head: "The prison was located near a pond and lots of trees for camouflage ".

"Well? Shall we head to the prison then?" I asked.

"Yes, however, don't you think that's a bit too easy?"

Alek's head turned my way.

"Well, what could be the other option?"

"My hut?"

"Yes, like your hut"

"But Natasha, if you were that monster- put yourself into his position- you would want us captured, as well as your parents. So-

"He could be anywhere!"

"Precisely. Have you ever felt that feeling, that this whole time something strange is going on? Like, like, we are being watched?"

At that time, both of our heads turned and twisted into every possible direction. And at that moment it seemed like behind every tree, every hill, every bush, or even every rock, there was someone. Lurking. Waiting. Feeding on information. Until the chance came. Until the attack could be made.

Then a sudden little girl's voice escaped.

"Nat, who's that?"
