Me and my dragon happened to come across a wagon. There was rumbling in his tummy and we spied inside the wagon something yummy.
The old man and his donkey, they got such a fright, he looked like a zombie! I thought to be polite, and ask for his pillage so to avoid a fight. But all he did was look on and stare, while dragon ate his donkey, every last hair.
Old Man with nothing he could do, Dragon asked if he could eat him too? I shook my head and set my eyes on the man, wondering how he'd come to drive this old van.
A spark flew across his blue eyes as he looks at my face, "Girl," He said, "You must run, make haste!" I was puzzled, Dragon would never eat me, oh no, he'd rather eat a tree!
"You two should never have met," he cried, "for it makes all the world a lie!"
"Leave this beast, take your love, run from him," He was shaking now, as Dragon took apart is wagon, "Staying with him, child, your soul will turn ghastly and grim,"
"How dare you tell me whom to love, old man?" I whispered, "You don't even know how our love began."
"I know not of beginnings, only of ends," He stood and walked to me, "Release your curse and see that you will no longer be friends."
I turned to look at my magnificent emerald monster, was it true? Did I unwittingly hold him in chains? Was I holding him back with magical reins?
I felt a tear escape my eye and fall away softly, Dragon turned to me, pushed his face into mine, kissed away the tears. But the sorrow would not leave, our joined heart tore apart, blood gushed from old scars.
I could feel the curse in the air, how it hung and shimmered there. My heart and soul ripped to shreds, I let the curse go, dropped to my knees, my body before him to beg...
Eat me. Eat me so I don't have to live without you. I thought, give be that, my love, do not just fly away, do not take your wings from me and turn. I'd rather you let me burn.
