I will not pacify you, to say I know how you feel.
I will not cheapen your suffering, to say I understand.
If it comforts you to know you are not alone, then know.
But I will not take from you now, when you have already been stripped.
They say that time heals all wounds,
I tell you ten years later,
I am still waiting.
They tell you it will get worse, before it gets better;
I tell you ten years later, it is still the worst.
I will not tell you
I have been where you are
because you were there and you saw.
Instead, I will show you where I am,
ready for when you call.
