Can you hear the distant shrieks? Or would you call them cries? For I relive them in my dreams and hear them when I close my eyes.
Have you had the look of fear, Felt the need to run, released a desperate tear, held someone's life at the end of a gun?
Have you tasted death, Had it stalking you, So close you could feel its imminent breath and know it would end soon?
War can bring pride, Power to the land, Many years of celebration and make each solider grand.
But for some it brings memories, Nightmares to terrorise, You may say temporary, But this is no surprise,
War leaves a blanket of red, that tucks you in each night.
