Characters: Rose (mother of Alice) Alice Iley (Rose's friend) Amelia (British reporter) Belle (saloon girl) Dove (saloon girl)
Setting: In Virginia City, Nevada during the Comstock Lode in 1860. Rose, Alice, and Amelia are arriving in town. Script: Alice: Is this Virginia City, mama? Rose: Yes it is! It's not what I expected- so different from home. The streets are dirty and dusty, and it doesn't look safe. Alice: (yawns dramatically) Rose: I guess we should find a place to stay. Iley: Rose? Is that you? I'm so glad you all are here! Time has been kind to you and your child. Alice, you've gotten so big since I saw you last. Have you all found a place to stay? Dove: Oh, I hear you're looking for a room. Belle: We have a great second floor room with an amazing view! Dove: We could get you a great price! Rose: I guess we might as well... Belle: (to Iley) And what about you, sweetheart? Iley: No thank you, dear. My husband and I've been living here for quite some time now. Amelia: Excuse me, I hear you have a free room. I'm new in town, and this sounds like the perfect place! Dove: Oh. Well, I GUESS we could make a room. There will be a slight fee for you, though. Dove (to Belle): We better take Rose and her child around back, or they'll never take a room at the saloon. Belle: We better take the tag along to her room as well- she'll never leave us alone otherwise. <all exit stage left>
