As I lay sobbing on my bed,
My phone began to ring.
I lay the phone against my head.
"Hello?" My old lovers voice was an unexpected thing.
"Why?" I asked between my tears
"Did you ignore me today?"
Part if me is hopeful, while the other part fears.
There is a moment of silence, and he starts to say
Some excuse I really don't care about
"I have a surprise for you, but I can't tell you"
I roll my eyes, it's a new girlfriend no doubt.
"It's a what, not a who. "
I sigh impatiently.
"Where will we go to meet?"
"I think I'll pick you up." He says most quietly.
I look out of my window, onto the street.
And there he is in a...
"Nice car." I say
"Oh yes, it's for you."
I smile for the first time today.
