Here they lie under the stars A million miles apart Their fear is overtaking them Breaking fragile hearts

They call to one another softly Solemn mournful cries They know it deep inside themselves That everybody dies

They sleep too lightly nowadays They fall like drops of rain The tears they felt so long ago Are coming back again

Hearts entwined, they listen To the far off beats they hear Waiting for tomorrow Waiting for another year

The walls that still divide them Are growing ever strong They whisper almost silently And sing sweet tearful songs

Soulmates cannot be divided Is what they have been told Yet the fact of the matter is These wise words soon get old

A walk alone at midnight And the line breaks once more A chance meeting on the Underground Finally they open the door

Embraces, sobs, kisses and shouts Reunite forbidden lovers They care not now for anything Only for each other

The forbidden part is hard to see But I can explain this to you These lovers were both male, and so Their love was not followed through

Their hands remain entwined today Happiness finally comes But they won't forget the way it was The way they had to run

I am heterosexual, much to the doubt of many of my friends. But I believe in gay rights, and I will never stop supporting them. We have free will, we have rights. So why does it not apply to those who are different? People should have the rights to marry who they like, and to be who they are without fear of ridicule and discrimination.
