They were young, they were in love Yes I know that tale again But this was different, this was more Their love was greater than their friends'

He loved the way her eyes would sparkle Laughing at the jokes he told She loved him when he hugged her close Telling her stories of old

They planned a future; marriage, children Thought of names, the trips they'd take Designed the dream home they would live in, On a green hill, by a lake

But something changed, they lost their spark When jealousy crept in his heart He wanted her all for himself Couldn't bear to be apart

They would argue; she would cry And blanche at the things he accused Until the day she left, heartbroken Tired of feeling so used

He lost her then and lost his heart Through a weakness of his own Emptiness part of his life Reminding him he was alone

But that was then, and this is now Both of them now old and grey Found love again at eighty -four A love that never went away

They'd found each other at long last And wept for all the years they'd missed Talking through lost memories Back to the last time they kissed

And that same night, they clasped their hands Lay together; side by side Last moments on Earth as one, Found true love; in love they died.
