She's bold, daring. She doesn't really care about what people think about her. She's honest and funny, and definitely not afraid to speak her mind.
But because of all this, she is bullied. Not many people realise the effect they have on her: she hides it behind jokes and remarks. But every hurtful comment built up and up, until the other day she just burst into tears.
It made me feel so sad to see such a strong person completely shattered. She told me about all the stress she was unable to cope with and the pressure she was under. It was strange, because I'd never seen this side of her, so weak and fragile. I didn't know what to do - here she was, the confident young woman that so many of us claim or aspire to be, distraught and feeble.
Neither of us value popularity at all, and I was reminded why I feel this way when I saw what she had become. Because as she cried her heart out, she didn't need a crowd of people pretending to give a damn how she feels. One friend was enough. I guess a hug is sometimes all you need.
