Half a day has gone. Today doesn't seem all that bad. Nothing embarrassing happened. Except the cake moment in office.
My 2 close colleagues got me a chocolate cake. I gently asked my colleagues not to sing out the traditional "Happy Birthday" song and they obliged. Thank god. Because once the song is sung, the whole office will gather at my table. And can you imagine how embarrassing that would be!? Where do I look? What do I do with my hands? Do I have to force a smile? Laugh? Sing along?
I did share my cake around though. And people wished me and shook my hands. And I smile and say thanks. The norm, when you're not close to people from your workplace.
Now I'll have to ride out the rest of the day and then, the big event.
