In 1923, a jockey named Frank Hayes won a race at Belmont Park while already dead. He suffered a fatal heart attack during the race, but his body remained in the saddle as his horse, Sweet Kiss, crossed the finish line first. Hayes remains the only jockey in recorded history to win a race posthumously.
