The Penny family had always had rumours about them within the local town. Some were conspiracies about where they got their tremendous amount of money, others were about the many visitors and goings on at night at the families home. But most were regarding the families apparent curse.
Naturally, none were true...
Or at least that's what Dora had told people when she was attending the local high school. She'd just wanted to be normal. Not the rich girl, not the cursed girl, just girl. She'd even debated a name change. But she couldn't do it. Not only would her family never understand, it wouldn't help much. You can tell a Penny from a mile away. Golden blonde hair, blue eyes... And a heart face shape that seemed to have been a stable fixture no matter what gender. The males were fiercely handsome the females extraordinarily cute. Which according to the few friends she had... Was something she had inherited.
By all means, in any other town, in any other life, she would have been the most popular girl in town. But here, people feared her, people could never understand her. Secrets have a way of isolating the people they include. She'd not even told her friends. But when your family specialises in dark disposal, there's not much you can really tell. Well, not without people screaming bloody murder... Literally.
