Panic filled me, intensified by the storm. The wind broke, pausing enough for me to see what lied below. Blood was everywhere. Surrounding the entire base of the tree and smearing higher up the trunk. I stared, my eyes wide at what had caused all of the blood. Long golden hair was sprawled across the face of a young woman... I recoilled in fear and disgusted. There was only one person who had hair like that in the village... Marcia. I bit my lip and hugged the tree trunk tight. Flashes of memories containing Marcia came through my mind and played on my tightly closed eyes. Memories of me and Marcia playing in the clearing, going to school, being bestfriends... Her stopping talking to me, her ignoring me, bullying me. My eyes openned slowly. Marcia and I had been best friends till she became pretty. Then she left me, refused to talk to me, and worst of all... went along with those that bullied me. Even though she did all of these things, I could feel a lump in the back if my throat building, and hot salty tears begin to leak their way down my cheeks. She couldn't be dead... I pulled myself from the blood shock, and climbed down fast, maybe she was still alive... my foot skidded on a branch. The heavy rain had soaked everything, every foot hold and handle was slippery. I grabbed for a solid handle. But my hand missed, grabbing at air. I looked at it in disbelief as my hand slid through the emptness, causing my body to slip from it's other holdings. I could feel my body falling, the atmosphere slipped passed me so fast it made me feel dizzy and ill. Then a final blast of pain before complete darkness.
Something was shaking me, violently. As my senses slowly came through, I could hear sobbing and visous screaming. "How could you do this? She was your friend Lanara! Your friend!" my fathers disgusted voice yelled. I could feel the contence of my stomach move. My eyes flew open, I shoved him away. In his place I left the little contents of the passed few days meals. He glared, but left the small hut room quickly. Mar sat beside me weeping. "Mar, what happened? What happened to her?" I asked her, nerves shaking my entire body. Her big green eyes looked blankly up at me. " You fell... You landed on Marcia, she'd run to tell you of news of her engagenent to Dawd. It was a tragic accident, and nothing more. You 're not to go out at sunset any more. If you do Lanara, bad things will happen. Now sleep and rest. You've got to get better." Mar whisped, her eyes haunted with the lies she just spoke, she left the room, returning to the inner circle. My mind hazed, that wasn't what had happened... I don't know what happened. But it wasn't that. Mar was lying to me... Why?
