Together we run. She keeps up with ease. More than I expected. I'm beginning to like her. Always positive. Well, nearly always. I hold up my hand. As agreed we run ten more steps to lose momentum then stop. She pulls out a drink. Drinks her fill, then passes it to me. I greatfuly receive it. Guzzling down the remainder of the precious liquid. "You know, I still don't know your name and, you don't know mine." She says looking at me scrutinisingly. "Um, call me Monty. It's easier." I say reluctant to tell her my full name. "Ok Monty, I'm Arty." I glare at her. "Don't make fun." I snarl, hurt by her mockery. "I wasn't, that's my name." She returns my glare sarcasticly. "Come on, lets move on." She says flatly. We're off again. Running through the forest. Dodging trees. One minuite we're surrounded by trees and bracken the next, a plain. Long and open. Somewhere out there our prey lurks. I look up and down the plain. Hoping it will be easy to see from were I'm standing. It isn't. We walk on. Keeping low to reduce chance of us being seen. A hissing catches my ears. I jerk my head around to locate the source. "Can you hear that." I say to Arty. I look back to find her gone. Drag marks leading away. I hear her scream. I follow the marks. My sword comes to life. Sliding out of its sheath, slowly. It flicks into the air. I raise a hand. Catch it hilt first. I keep following the tracks. I still havn't found her. I break into a run. I hear slithering. I hear her being dragged. She must be being dragged by some sort of snake. Then it hits me. We thought we were the hunters. Out here we're the hunted. I yell. A burst of fire shoots out of me from all angles. The long grass burns away. Revealing the Hydra. Arty in its grip. My sword spontaneously combusts. That's new. I smile. Run towards the Hydra. A head snakes out to meet me. I slice it off. The fire on my sword welding the cut closed. Two more come at me. I jump. Spin. They too get rent from their neck. I land. I draw my smaller sword. Take aim. Throw. It stabs into the Hydra's heart. The beast collapses. Arty struggles free. I sigh with relief. Then the Hydra gets up again...
Please note this is still not the finished version. Ive done as much as I can before I leave for school. Will finish tonight. Sorry for the delay.
