Prologue: Deep in the shadow filled cave a great monstet lay slumbering, its chest rising and falling with each long drawn out breath. Suddenly its eyes flashed open, its pupils dilated then it shook its head as if trying to clear out an unwanted sound. But whatever it was, it was too strong. After much thrashing from the beasts part it finally gained control. The beast rose with a new purpose, destroy, destroy all things. Within a heartbeat it was at the mouth of the cave spreading its vast black wings then launching off into the sky making a beeline for a small village across the plains. It took minuites to cross as a reasult when it reached its destination its fury was greater. A storm brewed and rummbled. The sky crashed with every beat of the great monster's wings. Lightning flashed temporarily illuminating it's magestic but terrible skull. A jet of white hot fire gushed from its gaping maw mercilessly charring the thatched roofs of the village below. Not just homes, people, people were turned to ashes also before the deadly inferno. Many fled but one man stayed. Tall and dark, cloaked in black silk so shadow black he was barely visible against the gloomy shadows of the night. Beneath the cloak he wore a shining suit of enchanted armour, only noticeable from the silvery steel gauntlet that protruded through an opening in his black mantle. This armoured hand contained nothing although a ring consisting of a ruby clasped in gold fingers was openly displayed over the index finger. This ring almost buzzed with power and if you looked deep into its scarlet depths there it held swirls of pure, colourless energy slowly drifting as if in no hurry at all. The man held this ring so it faced the monster of the sky and shouted a phrase in the toungue of old. "Duew vyeb", with this harshly spoken command a beam of bright scarlet fire burst through the air directing itself straight at the beasts chest. It faded and died before getting anywhere near the huge shape that hovered in the clouds. The massive monster was lit up for a mere second describing huge powerful jaws, it had giant canvasses ribbed with skeletal membranes for wings. It's hide was as deep as the darkness of outer space, it's eyes burned red with a hatred of all things. It swung it's head vigorously towards this new unwelcome distraction who to this powerful giant was no more significant than the tiniest of ants to the largest of humans. Again it's jaws parted unleashing a torrent of flame furiously directed at the bothersome human. The flames surrounded him until nothing was left visible only then did the beast cease it's fire. It turned away knowing that nothing could have survived such an ordeal of raw heat and power. A whole was ripped in the flames as the man stepped through, the gap closing behind him. He dusted off an invisible speck of dirt turned on his heal and left no more hurriedly than a man heading towards a tiresome job that he has no wish to begin let alone complete.
