I have had many bad nights in my time but none as bad as last night.It was the 23rd of May 1999.It was very dark apart from the moon lighting up the sky.
A Big Bang woke me up it sounded like it was coming from the front door. My house was not very big, so only took me 30 seconds to peek round the door,but instead of nocking on the door they were crouched down trying to break in.
There were two boys both wearing a balaclava.I knew it was only a matter of time before they got in.
I quietly dialled 999...
Just as they opened the door my heart raced .It felt like it was going to jump out my body.
I prayed and prayed that the police would arrive. In the nick of time I saw the blue flashing lights outside.
