Like if you want to see more!

I remember it like it was yesterday. The endless sea, swaying to and fro. The stench of rotten fish. The sound of seagulls drifting in the air. The taste of saltwater burning my mouth. The old wood of The Moth sending splinters deep into my skin as I travelled through the rich blue sea. I always loved the sea. The endless depths. The home of billions of creatures. Since I was a young boy, I have loved the wonders of the sea. Its natural beauty makes it a place where a man can drown his troubles and live a happy life.

I had joined a crew who delivered materials across the sea. In this straw delivery to the United States of America, the rest of the crew had chickened out, as the route crossed through the Bermuda triangle, the area of the world in which people thought that others who crossed it mysteriously vanished. Just a silly superstition, or so I thought…

Another fear of the crew was the fact that, after a recent accident, we had had to buy another boat. I found a ship, just a small one, called ‘The Moth’, as a temporary replacement. The captain of the harbour convinced me to take it. Top of the market, he had said. It will never let you down, he had said. Indestructible and fierce, he had said. He was too wrong.

I strolled to the other side of the ship, to take a drink from the new, state of the art water cleansing system that had been installed on my ship so I could safely drink seawater. I checked my compass which I had received the day I was born. West. The right way. I felt my trusty cutlass at my side, and headed back to the wheel. I wasn’t alone on the boat. After the crew deserted me, I only had Lubber as my companion. My trusty dog, who loved the sea as much as I did, and enjoyed every time he went on a voyage with me. I loved lubber and we were great companions to each other. After sailing for several days, a storm started to brew. The rain got so heavy that every single drop felt like a boulder smacking into my skin. After coping against the storm for about twenty minutes, I came across a rocky patch near an island. I tried to steer away from the rocks, but the wind was too strong. I decided that The Moth might be able to cope with it, so stopped trying to change my path, and shouted “Onward ho!” My voice was barely heard over the onslaught of wind. As the ship entered the rocky patch, the deafening crunch of wood breaking echoed in my eardrums. Splinters of wood were sent flying into the air. The ship couldn’t handle it. I thought that my life was at an end. I grabbed Lubber and ran to the cargo room. We hid inside. The ship must have overturned, because I couldn’t tell which way was up. Lubber started yapping. Everything went black...
