The loud humming pierced through the silent air as I turned the key. Off I was, headed in pursuit of the first lead, Cutoff Place. Street after street passed by, and I began to think. Information that I already knew was swirling me, delving me deeper into the case. The scalpel, a broken heart, the pieces were starting to fit together. I was missing some of the pieces though, and maybe I could retrieve some at Cutoff Place.
I arrived at the surgery. A lavish, expensive building, the walls composed almost entirely out of glass. As I walked towards the building, sunlight shot down, and blinded me, after gleaming off of the building. Sliding doors welcomed me into a glorious reception area. A delicate white marble floor carefully placed, holding mahogany desks and beautiful paintings. If this was a place related to my case, it certainly didn’t seem like it. I began to wander through the room and stare at the walls. Painting after painting, so many colours, so much beauty…
“Sir! Sir!” A voice called out, “Do you need any help?”
“Yes I do” I replied to the receptionist, who had a beaming smile “Do you keep records of all of the medical equipment that you own?”
“One moment please, sir” The receptionist began to furiously tap away at her keyboard.
A few moments later, she handed me a file.
“Hospital policy – We have all of our files ready to hand out to protectors of the law. Those should be all of the files that you need. If you have any further queries, feel free to call us later!” She handed me a business card. How nice.
I quickly thanked her, and paced over towards the waiting chairs, were I pulled out the files and frantically searched through them. Syringe, Light, Tweezers, Magnifying glass, Stethoscope…. No sign of a scalpel. I rearranged all of the files, and head out on my way. I almost leapt straight into my car, eager to start to cover distance on the case. Keys back in the engine, the loud humming returned…
