As I Lie Dying

As I lie still, slowly dying,
I know that my end will have you crying.

One pull of the trigger and the stab of a knife,
Will leave my whole family in their greatest strife.

Instead of death,I think to you,
Think of all the things we've been through.

One fateful night our eyes did cross,
In each others gaze we both got lost.

Then came the day you knelt on one knee,
Asking 'will you marry me?'

Next came our baby wrapped up so tight,
Her soulful eyes shone so bright.

Soulmates as one but fate had other plans,
It tore me away from your outstretched hand.

Last of all I think of what I'll miss,
Growing old with you, our daughters first kiss.

As my life ebbs slowly away,
I pray that you'll know, with you I will always stay.
