'what!' I cried leaping up from where I was sitting. She was sitting crossed legged on her bed and had an pool of blood surrounding her. A tear slid down her cheek and she began to sob. 'call... Adam...' she choked. I quickly grabbed a bag and put a few clothes and toiletries in it for Lucy and then helped her up, supporting her around her waist. I pulled out my phone and dialed Adams number. 'hey baby' he said chirpily 'Adam you need to come to our block, it's Lucy.' I replied gravely. 'what... Abby what has happened' he replied sounding worried. 'I'll explain later, but you need to get here now!' I replied I sat Lucy down on a bench, and tried to comfort her. 'Lucy it might not be that...' She cut me off abruptly. 'Abby what else could it be... I bet your pleased..' she snarled. '...Lucy...what the... No' I replied shocked, just then Adam jogged up to us. 'what's happened' he demanded. 'Lucy needs to get to hospital, she might be having a miscarriage.' I said bluntly, still hurt from Lucy's harshness. I looked at Adam and at that moment he looked as though he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He picked Lucy up, the way he usually carried me, which I felt momentarily jealous about before I realized he had only done it because Lucy looked like she might faint. The doctors whisked her away as soon as we took her in to hospital. Adam and I waited on the chairs along the corridor she was in, I rested my head on Adams shoulder and gave his hand a squeeze, he looked down at me sadly and sighed. Then the nurse walked by and said we could go in. Lucy was sat curled up in a ball on her bed, she was very pale and had tubes coming out of her hands. We huddled around her and wrapped our arms around her. The doctor walked in clutching a clipboard, with a grave expression on his face, Lucy whimpered and curled up even tighter. 'I'm afraid I have some bad news' he began, but Lucy cut him off by wailing and crying hysterically. The doctor took this as his cue to leave. Adam and I cradled Lucy until her sobs subsided and she fell asleep. As Adam walked out of the hospital he had a glazed over expression on his face and he was very pale. 'I feel terrible, it's my fault, I never wanted it in the first place, it's my fault it died.' he exclaimed distressed. 'No' I replied firmly 'what happened is nobody's fault.' I took his face in my hands and kissed him gently. He nodded and then stared at the ground the whole way home.
