I was blown backwards, in what felt like minutes, but I knew in reality it was probably seconds. Every thing that I heard was muffled and sounded like I was under water. All around me was littered with bodies, in varying states of fatal injuries. Then suddenly the past few seconds came rushing back and my brain was screaming at me to run and find Adam and get back to the helicopter, and get as far away from here as possible. I looked left and saw Adam getting up. 'Abby, get up, come on, we have to get out of here!' I was about to do just that, when I heard it, the bleating of a small child. 'help...please' I looked around and saw her, half covered by rubble, she must have only been about 3 or 4. Adam saw me look at her than back at him, my eyes pleading. 'no, it's too dangerous, we have to get back before they leave without us' he shouted. I ignored him and ran towards her. 'No,' he screamed,'I...I have to go.' I saw him running back in the direction of the helicopter, the sting of his abandonment hit me, but I had to reach this girl. I franticly scrabbled to free her, I scooped her into my arms and started to run back. I tripped over something that may have once been a person, and went flying. By the time I looked up there were two enemy soldiers standing around me guns pointing at my head. 'please, do what you want with me, but don't hurt her.' I stammered, looking at the girl. They cocked their guns.
