'Abby...' Adam yelled from the kitchen, I could already hear him coming thundering upstairs. I clasped at the base of my stomach, I was doubled over in pain. I felt a wet liquid slide down my legs. 'adam....please.' I whispered as I curled up tighter. He came running in 'Abby...Abby speak to me.' he said panicked. 'i...I think my waters just broke.' I said and as suddenly as the pain came, it went. I straightened out and rushed into our room before the next contraction came, I started throwing things I would need in a duffel bag, when the wave of pain rolled over me again. I tried to suppress a wail because I could see that it was worrying Adam. 'what do you need?' he said, picking up where I left off. I pointed at things I needed and then tried to straighten up when the contraction passed. Adam went to get the baby stuff while I frantically waddled to the car, trying to get there before the next contraction hit me. I had just sat down when the next one racked through me. Adam shoved the stuff in the back and then jumped in the front, he took my hands in his and tried to get me to breathe deeply. Once I started to breathe deeply, he drove maniacally to the hospital. We stumbled in frightening the women at reception. They saw the state I was in and pointed to a room. A nurse came to hook me up to various machines and gave me gas and air. I was breathing deeply on that when Adam asked 'is she going to be ok, I didn't think that it happened this fast.' he whispered. The nurse smiled reassuringly 'it's fine, don't worry, it just means you'll see your baby sooner.' she said and left us in the room alone. Adam walked over and pushed the hair out if my clammy face and took my hands in his. He leaned over and kissed me gently. 'I'm sorry that I can't really help you with this.' he said smiling apologetically. 'it's fine Adam, just you being here is all I need.' I said kissing him again. Then one of the machines started beeping, Adam rushed out to get the nurse. She checked how dilated I was and said 'right Abby I'm going to need you to push now.' I took Adams hand, 'this is it.' I whispered.
