The next time I woke up Adam wasn't there. The few days after that were a blur, waking up and then slowly slipping back into darkness. Lucy visited me for a while, but then she had to leave because she had an appointment with the doctor, I was too tired to ask what for. A week later I was discharged, was told to take it easy and that I wouldn't be going on any missions for another week. Lucy came to help take me home, when we got to our room, I flopped down onto the bed. 'ahhh, i cannot tell you how much I missed my own bed' I said grinning. 'hmm' Lucy replied, she had a distant look and I noticed that she had dark circles under her eyes, and worry lines on her forehead. 'Lucy...' I asked quietly, 'is everything ok?' She snapped out of the daze she was in and replied, 'of course I am silly, I was just worried about you that's all' I could tell she was lying, but didn't press any further.
That night at dinner, everyone was asking me about what happened, all of them eagerly hanging on my every word. I noticed that even though Lucy was sitting opposite Adam, she didn't look at him once.
That night as I was falling asleep I thought I heard sniffling, but with all the meds I was on I was sure I was just imagining it. I woke up screaming I was covered in sweat and there were tears rolling down my face. Lucy jumped up and came and hugged me, 'what happened?' she asked frantically 'are you alright?' I'm fine, I'm sorry I woke you up.' 'it's fine, are you sure you're ok?' she asked looking deep into my eyes, as if they would tell her what I saw. 'no really, I'm fine. Please go back to sleep.' She knew I was lying, but like me earlier she didn't press me any further.
