I kissed Adam goodbye tearily, he to had glittering tears threatening to spill out of his eyes as he kissed me and his precious child goodbye. I stood waving until all I could see of him was the white sheen of the sun against his car.
I called Lucy and asked her to stay with me while Adam was gone, she arrived lugging a suitcase. 'oooh where's my beautiful girlie.' lucy cooed at Amelie, causing her to giggle and kick her feet in excitement, Lucy took her out of my arms smothering her in kisses, while I lugged her bag upstairs.
When I came back down Amelie was lying in her basket and Lucy had the kettle on. Amelie was desperately trying to grasp at one of the toys hanging from the mobile above her, she kicked her sock of in frustration and I went to place it back on her dainty foot. 'she's been kicking them off all morning.' I said smiling. 'have you...have you, you cheeky girl.' Lucy said in a silly voice, tickling Amelie's tummy.
I got a call in the evening informing me that Adam had arrived safely. I felt some weight lift off my shoulders. Amelie looked so much like her dad, that it was a painful reminder of how much I missed him when I looked at her.
Over the next two days the sun shone non stop and Lucy and I sat out in our huge garden with Amelie, lapping up the golden sun, while Amelie played with her toys on her play mat with us. As I looked around me I acknowledged how perfect my life was, I was married to my soul mate, I was living in the house of my dreams, I was surrounded by people that loved me and I had the most perfect daughter. I sighed happily to myself as the suns warmth seeped through me. As Amelie began to whimper I picked her up to feed her, stroking her head gently, when she was done I gently rubbed her back in circles and patted her gently to burp her. She coughed and spluttered, splattering me. I groaned lightheartedly and handed her to Lucy, while I dashed inside to change. I was walking back outside as the phone rang, I quickly picked it up, 'hello.' I said cheerfully.
'Abby...you need to get here as soon as you can... It's Adam.'
