There was no need to keep track of the date anymore. For all they knew, there was no time. The remaining cluster of people walked to Iceedge in a line. Elizabeth, Avery, Cameron, Donahue, Alyssa, and Madison had been their names at one point. They had taken on new names, the names of the Greek gods that were most like them, so if somehow one of the Cronuses heard of them, or something they had done, they would not think that humans remained. Elizabeth became Aphrodite, Avery Posidon, Cameron Hermes, Donahue Hades, Alyssa Hecate, and Madison Nyx.
I may be getting ahead of myself. The creatures from the suns flames, called Cronuses, were giant fiery serpents with fangs of blue ash and molten metal. They knew more then any human, for they had been born alongside the sun. They had come to the Earth. They had struck it with their fangs until it split, three pieces of the world orbiting around eachother. Earth had been a parasite to the Cronuses. They were occasionally coming back to the Earths, sending fiery storms and tremors through the Earths. Nyx had long, dark brown hair and huge, icy blue eyes. She was tall muscular, and solemn. She wore all black. Hecate had shiny, straight black hair that went down to her shoulders. Her eyes were narrow and elegant, and she was small in stature. Aphrodite was normal height, platinum blond, and fairly pretty. She had large blue-green eyes. Hermes was also tall, and lanky. He had two companion miniature constrictors that were always curled around his arms. Donahue had light brown hair that was so colorless it almost looked grey. He had obsidian black eyes and always was standing in the shadows, contemplating. Posidon was short, and even after the Shattering he still had a little bit of humor. He had pale skin, like Nyx, and bright orange hair. Whenever they went to await the time to cross away from Wateredge, he would delay them with his swimming.
They were about to be tested.
