PROLOGUE
First, there was the Wall. There had always been the Wall, towering over the Khea City Plane like a mountainous sleeping giant. Noone knew who built it, although rumour abounded in some of the darker parts of Khea - rumours of the Old Lords and Ladies.
Many of the less intelligent modern Hierarks of Khea had tried to knock the colossal structure down, just to find out what, or conceivably who, was to be found on the other side. But the ancient black stone proved immovable, and no climber had ever scaled to the top, which was hidden far above the clouds.
So the wall stood, and the people of Khea ignored it for the most part, except for a determined few, propelled by a strange curiosity, or an insatiable greed...
