"I think we owe you some explanations. Signia, this city, is the most corrupt, criminal, scum-filled gutter-hole from Djil to the Vexan Plains. But it's rich, really rich. So I spotted an opportunity to get rich. All I needed was some help. And then I met Arys." Ryder pointed at the girl. "She... has a history with this town's rulers. She wants to bring down the government on top of them. Imagine that. Thieves bringing down a big city's leadership. She had a dream, and so did I. And then, luckily, some beggar told us about this place. We decided to use it as our centre of operations. "But if we were to make any kind of real impact, we'd need more people with us. And that's where you come in. You were in jail, and it was an opportunity too good to miss. You are quite notorious, Tpek. And that is it really up to now."

"That's all you know about this place?" Tpek asked.

"Yeah." Ryder said, "That beggar was strange. I've only seen him once, and I didn't know him. I was sure I knew all the beggars." Ryder shook himself. "Anyway, onto business."

"Where do I start?" Tpek asked.

"Just try to get some money. And a change of clothes - that prison stuff will be quite obvious. Me and Arys will try to find new people to help our little business down here."

"Ok. I'm sure I'll find something to do." Tpek grinned. He had been in prison for two years, and was now finally free. Free to steal.
