The experiment, in Jonah's eyes, was necessary in order to create a perfect human race. If you made a human face their fears, they would become fearless. Untouchable. Invincible. In other words, the most powerful living creature on the planet. But in order to get rid of a fear, one must face them.
Lydia was drowning. It had to have been more than a minute since the water pulled her under and began to slowly kill her. Why couldn't she just die now?
All of a sudden, the water disappeared around her. Lydia was left laying on the middle of the floor in a large room, her dark brown hair cascading down her shoulders.
"Am I dreaming?" she said aloud, pinching herself as she spoke. But she knew everything was all-too real. She slowly stood up and paced around the humongous room. There were no windows. No carpet. No door. The room was completely and utterly bare. Lydia ran her fingers on the walls, looking for some escape route. She heard a crackling noise of what appeared to be a speaker overhead. A voice cleared their throat and then began to speak.
"Congratulations Lydia Evans, you've passed test number one."
