Running. Running as fast as they could. Shooting. Bang bang.
Lydia had never killed anyone in her life. She'd been brought up properly, going to church on Sundays and saying please and thank you. She knew the golden rule: thou shalt do what you would want done to you. Play fair, be nice. Don't steal. Don't kill.
But that was then. Lydia was different now. She didn't play by the same rules. If she hadn't killed people, she would be dead by now. So would Gavin.
The three had made it to another door. Stefan quickly opened it, letting Gavin and Lydia go ahead of him. Stefan went last, closing the door behind him.
"Are you guys okay?" he asked, mainly looking at Lydia.
"I-I'm fine." Lydia stuttered, staring blankly at the gun in her hand.
Stefan went and sat down next to her. He wrapped his arm around her tightly, comforting her.
Lydia started to cry, her body convulsing with each sob.
"It's okay." Stefan murmured, playing with her hair. "You're okay. We're all okay."
He kissed her forehead. "We'll be fine."
Gavin stared at the two, feeling nauseous. He watched in horror as Stefan comforted Lydia. Why couldn't that be him holding Lydia?
Lydia looked up and saw Gavin staring at him. She quickly looked away, embarrassed. She hadn't realized Stefan's arms were wrapped around her, his lips on her cheek.
Lydia scooted away Stefan and crawled over to Gavin. "Are YOU okay?" she asked quietly, caressing his arm.
Gavin sighed. "I guess."
Lydia cringed. Gavin had seemed so excited, so elated, before Stefan came around. Was he jealous? Lydia didn't know. But she did know how to fix it.
Lydia scooted closer to Gavin and quickly planted a kiss on his cheek.
Gavin put his hand over his heart. "I feel better now!" he said triumphantly, grabbing Lydia's hand and pulling her up from the ground. The two laughed and danced around the room.
Stefan sighed. "Let's get out of here." he glanced around the empty room. "We're wasting time."
The sound of Gavin and Lydia's laughs had stopped; it was now eerily silent.
"Stefan.." Lydia whimpered. "Come here."
Stefan hopped up from the ground and ran over to Lydia, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
Lydia didn't try to shrug it off. Instead, she pointed at Gavin's forehead.
"Look," she whispered.
The symbol on Gavin's forehead was glowing.
