Lydia had never been afraid of the dark.

But the darkness now, was terrifying.

Lydia couldn't see a foot in front of her. All she could hear was the shallow breathing of the others.

"Guys," Tashie whispered, "let's get moving. Grab hands."

Lydia took a firm hold on Gavin's hand. She wouldn't lose him now.

The group walked through the darkness, not one peep coming out of them. There was no need to use their guns, there was nothing here.

"Switch positions!" Tashie yelled. "I'll take the back with Marcus, Natalie will be in the middle with Gavin. Stefan, Lydia, you two are in front." Tashie commanded.

Lydia moved up to walk beside Stefan.

"Is that you, beautiful?" Stefan asked, tracing his finger over her arm.

Lydia shrugged it off. "Mhm." she mumbled.

"How long will we be in here?" Stefan asked.

"Forever, and eternity." Lydia muttered.

Stefan graves her hand. "We're supposed to hold hands." he said quickly.

Lydia grinned. She couldn't tell if Stefan was looking at her, but she was sure she could see him smiling. The two were now a few hundred feet ahead of the others.

"You're pretty cute, you know." Stefan said, turning to look at her.

Lydia blushed. "Thanks.." she smiled.

Stefan pulled her close. "You're welcome." he said, gently grazing his lips against hers.

Lydia didn't hesitate. She couldn't think. She relied solely on instinct. She kissed Stefan back. His hands were in her hair. Her hands were on his back.

Finally, Lydia's brain kicked into gear. Lydia pulled away and turned away from Stefan.

"I..I'm sorry, Stefan. I can't."

Stefan squeezed Lydia's hand. "It's okay," he whispered. "I'll wait."

Lydia felt ashamed. Sure, she had kissed Stefan. But even worse, she had loved every second of it.

"Hey guys!" Gavin yelled, walking towards them, still a few feet away. "Wait up!"
