REFUSE TO FEAR Psalm 3:6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands ofpeople who have set themselves against me round about. This was David telling us his thoughts in the midstof great adversity. He makes it clear that he has tens ofthousands of people set against him. Everyplace round about him is filled with his enemies and yethe boldly declares that he will not be afraid. No matter what life circumstances you face, refuse to be afraid. Even if the situation looks hopeless, refuse to fear. 2Timothy 1:7 makes it clear that God has not given us a spirit of fear but rather He has given us a Spirit of power, love and a sound mind. Fear is a weapon of satan. Luke 21:26 Men’s hearts failing for fear.....................(King James Bible) Men’s hearts fail because of fear. The Amplified Bible of the same portion of Luke 21:26 says ‘Men swooning away or expiring with fear...........’ An expired food product is not good for consumption and is instead thrown away into dustbin or destroyed. When you are filled with fear, you are simply setting yourself up to expire and become irrelevant in this world even though you are still alive. No matter what your spouse does, refuse to fear. If you are threatened with retrenchment or receive a terrible medical diagnosis refuse to fear. Even if you are guilty of an offence refuse to fear. Even if you cannot repay debts, refuse to fear. Fear is the opposite of faith. Meditate on God’s Word, grow in faith and it will become impossible for you to fear. In fact you cannot even think fear. You become panic proof. Whilst David was surrounded by tens of thousands of enemies, many people were saying that His God was not able to help him. Psalm 3:2 ‘Many are saying there is no help for him in God. Selah: pause and calmly think of that!’(Amplified Bible) People’s negative thoughts against David and God failed to make David afraid. Why? David knew His God and said in Psalm 3:3 ‘But You, O Lord are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.’ David knew that His God was(i) his shield, that is, his protector (ii) source of his glory, that is, source of his victory over the enemies (iii)lifter of his head, that is, source of his promotion . In Psalm 3:5 David says‘............the Lord sustains me.’ David knew that God was the source of His promotion. In Psalm 3:4 David refers to His God as the one who ‘...........hears and answers me........’ David knew that he could call on God any time and get the solutions he needed anytime. NO WONDER DAVID WAS NOT AFRAID OF TENS OF THOUSANDS OF ENEMIES AGAINST HIM. DAVID WITH GOD ON HIS SIDE WAS BIGGER THAN ANY SIZE OF ENEMY OR CHALLENGE HE COULD EVER FACE IN LIFE. Stop analysing how big your challenge is, start meditating on God’s Word and discover how big God is. If you are born again, Jesus is Lord of Your Life. The Holy Spirit (God) lives in you. There is no challenge big enough to defeat you or take joy from you. There is no challenge strong enough to make you afraid. BEING AFRAID IS NOT YOUR NATURE...
